I love our dog. She’s a sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (quite a mouthful for a little dog) that, at 13 years old, sprints to her dog bowl like a starving hyena, insists on fetch until she can’t breathe, and begs better than any dog I know.
Everything is roses until it’s time for us to take a trip. Finding pet care is stressful. If I use a house sitter I feel like I need to clean the entire house, prepare a room and fill the fridge – on top of all the other travel to-dos. If I take her to an outside dog-care facility, I worry that they won’t know that she will eat anything and everything in sight, toxic or not. She snores like a truck driver and I can’t help but worry that there may be other animals that aren’t nice to her. Honestly, by the time I figure out pet care I’m so exhausted I don’t even want to leave.
What I really want is a Mary Poppins for dogs. Someone to show up right when I need her (dropping from the sky with an umbrella would be preferable), that can produce delicious dog potions from a bag, and clean the house with a few songs and magic. Then I could walk out the door knowing our house will be better off than when we left and my dog will be better trained and happier upon our return. Does anyone know someone like that? I’m in the market.
In lieu of Mary, does anybody have sage dog care advice? Has anyone used Fetch or Rover?
