Hurry Up And Live Your Summer – Before Fall Comes Knocking

By Cheryl Ryan

I hope your summer is going swimmingly!  Speaking of swimming, the Olympics are happening. I was getting impatient looking for my favorite events and then I found this live event schedule with daily highlights so that I can get right to the good stuff that I want to see.

I may be the only one that didn’t embrace the redecorate your home during the COVID movement. I actually took the opportunity to do nothing since nobody was coming into my house anyway. But now my house is in desperate need of some care before the holidays hit. As inspiration, I’ve been checking out these 2021 colors trends. And while searching for colors I stumbled upon this cool list of Etsy home decor and antique suppliers. I’m especially smitten with the Retro Daisy Girl and White Wall Sconce shops.

I’m a huge fan of a hearty winter soup but was never drawn to cold soups in summer. But these have captured my imagination as a creative way to use my summer harvest. And who doesn’t want a good refreshing cocktail before dinner?

I’m increasingly freaked out about being in the sun but I don’t want to sit indoors all day either.  I went looking for and found this SPF summer shrug that I saw someone wearing. I’ve been wearing it hiking and golfing.  It’s actually amazing. It makes my arms feel cooler than if I wasn’t wearing it. I put it on under my short sleeve shirts and it is so thin that I don’t even notice that I have it on. It may not be the most fashionable but it feels right for me.

Speaking of fashion, have you noticed that our Millennial children are throwing our fashion (except for the present 80’s revival) right out the window?  Remember all those high heels we wore all the time? They are not having it. Notice how few of them are walking around in those contraptions on a Friday night. It’s flats, low square heels, or wedges for many of them.  And there are the wide-rimmed straw hats for men or women that we would have shunned in our day.  The good news for us is that we can appear trendy while protecting our skin and the good bits that we still have left of our knees! Touche’ Millennials. It’s a win for all of us.

We’d love to hear any of your summer recipes, thoughts and warm weather tips.
